First of all, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all the participants, from all over the world, who joined us in Berlin, for the second edition of the Resistant Hypertension Course, held this past week (20th-22nd February). Most participants were from Europe, although one third of the delegates traveled from Asia, Africa, Latin America and North America to be with us. We appreciate your taking the time to come and exchange on the challenging topic of difficult to control or treatment-resistant hypertension and thank you for your active participation.
This year, during RHC 2014, we introduced many new learning tools and educational formats, such as:
- RHClub intimate sessions
- The challenging Dr. Doubt, playing devil’s advocate
- RHC phenotype patients (elderly vascular, metabolic, young hyperadrenergic)
- “Live on stage” duplex diagnosis
- Dynamic device demonstrations
- “Live” web reporting for the RHC internet community
All of these innovations were created with YOU, the active participants, in mind. Feel free to provide us with your feedback and express your VOICE (your opinion) via the website: we would be delighted to hear from you!
To summarise for those not able to join us in Berlin:
Day 1 opened the floor for a better understanding of the key mechanisms involved in hypertension and permitted the overview of patient assessment, including patient medication adherence.
Day 2 focused on customising and optimising combination therapy, for a personalised treatment, as well as identifying and treating causes of secondary hypertension, including renal artery revascularization strategies.
Day 3 provided with a better understanding of currently available device-based therapies, the differences and similitudes across various technologies, closing with a perspective on current clinical challenges and future indications of renal denervation.
We look forward to staying in touch with you, via the rhcourseonline.com website, over the future months and to seeing you again on 26th – 28th February 2015 in Berlin.
